When I click on the 'learn more & submit' button, I'm taken to the submissions page for the Memoir Prize. Are you still taking submissions for The Personals as well as the Memoir Prize?
Hi Deborah, sorry for the confusion. You're correct, yes. We had added a note at the top explaining that while our Memoir Prize is open (through December 7), we have temporarily closed submissions for The Personals. We've removed the submission button to avoid any confusion, and we do plan to open The Personals up again in the future, so if you're signed up as a subscriber (free or paid) you will receive a notification when we open up again. In the meantime, we hope you consider submitting to our Memoir Prize, which you can read more info about here: https://www.narrativelyacademy.com/p/the-2025-narratively-memoir-prize Thanks!
For these, we're looking for first-person, personal stories. But we're also open to submissions for our Secret Lives section, which can be reported. You can read more about that here: https://www.narratively.com/p/pitch-us Thanks for your interest!
Hi again - I'm ready to submit an essay that is TIME SENSITIVE but I still do not see on your Submittable link an option to submit to The Personals. Please help me out here.
Is there a place I can look to know what the difference is between a submission and a pitch? Is a 2,000 word pitch very different than a 2,000 word submission/story?
Hi Andrew, Thanks for your interest! A pitch is just a couple of paragraphs that explain the story you plan to write about, while a full submission is the whole story. Hope that helps!
Hi this sounds interesting. Is there a last date for submissions?
Nope! It's a rolling call. Thanks for your interest!
I am getting ready to send my submission! Good luck to everyone who will enter.
And I just submitted. Looking forward to hearing from you 🥰
Commenting so I remember the do this!
Good One. I'm doing the same.
Mine is in! 🤗 What a fun challenge.

Just submitted mine :) Hope you enjoy reading it!
I have a question: do the stories have to be our own personal experiences, or can they be from interviews?
For these, we're looking for first-person, personal stories. But we're also open to submissions for our Secret Lives section, which can be reported. You can read more about that here: https://www.narratively.com/p/pitch-us Thanks for your interest!

Hi - I'm ready to submit but don't see The Personals as an option on the Submittable link.
What to do?
thanks, Lisa

My planned submission was printed in a small audience magazine. I still have the rights. Can I submit it?
Terry Arnold
Sure!
thanks! I will
Hello! I just wanted to check there wasn't a fee to submit to this? Many thanks!
There's no fee. Thanks!
